Mig Fuel Vodka - Pharrell has his "Cream", b. Diddy hawking his Ciroc, Busta rhyming with some other Corvaisier laying around somewhere. Rappers aren't afraid to pimp their favorite booze and are even getting into the booze business these days.

Local philanthropist Zingy gets in on the act and buys a stake in Phoenix Spirits, a Kansas City-based Russian importer of vodka called Shibilka.

Shpilka (pronounced "spilka") means stiletto heel in Russian, and the label features a willowy young woman in a short dress and high heels. Diversify.

What's fascinating about the marriage between the distiller and the rapper, who are currently in the midst of an industry renaissance, is the degree to which they've integrated their marketing with each other. In Singhi's latest videos, he and his buddies pour, glue and splash shpilka everywhere. In the back of luxury cars, next to girl bubbles, in the "club" among all the usual scumbags, "Shpilka" is the "right durr", if you will. On the Internet, you can find advertisements for Shpilka, which, not coincidentally, resemble rap videos. Not only does it go beyond Neil Young's production offering on "This Note Is For You," it veers into an area where music and product marketing merge quite fearlessly.

The next steps in Chinga and Shpilka's plan for global dominance will see the Phenix headquarters move to the immediate areas of St. Louis and the Central West End, putting them close to one of Shpilka's biggest supporters, Sub Zero Vodka Bar. Later, in 2013, Singy will perform at a concert in Kyrgyzstan, where Shibilka is being filmed. It is fair to say that he will be the first western rapper to play Bishkek.

I was working in the studio with some friends of mine, some producer Fastrax, and this bottle of vodka caught my eye. I asked my friends whose wine it was. They told their friend Ray that he owned a vodka company. They encouraged me to talk to him, which I did. I let him know that I wanted to be part of the Shpilka brand and face. It's a new thing for me, but I learned it from Ray. That's a big deal.

It was very exciting. I came out of the spirit realm. I have been a part of many brand launches and I understand star power. A good friend of mine paired Ciroc with Puff Daddy. It was an exciting day when the producers called me and asked for a bottle of shpilka to put in their music video. I actually got a call and said "Chingy's" name out loud in the car without knowing who it was. My 18-year-old son in the passenger seat immediately yelled, "Dad! Hotel, motel, vacation inn!" (Laughs) I know that song. Singhi and I met and I told him I wanted him to be a partner, not just a face. We'll teach him the business and he'll teach us the music business.

It's cross promotion - alcohol helps music, music helps alcohol! We both leave together. I'm behind it 1000 percent and I'll always get [Shpilka] involved. I carry a bottle with me wherever I go. When I go to the club they tell me I can't take it here! (Laughter)

I prefer vodka to cognac. But you know the bottle itself caught my attention. I love women and there is an attractive young woman in it. I actually found such a girl.

I understand the benefits of shibilka due to the extensive filtering process. Last May, Esquire magazine's spirits writer praised Shpilka for its "clean and creamy" texture and as essentially the best straight-up vodka on the market.

Shpilka, a Russian winter wheat, is the best ingredient to use in vodka because it doesn't retain the minerality of the potatoes or the vegetal notes of the grapes. Distillation takes the taste to the next level. The recipe, which dates back to 1757, now uses filters made from charcoal, pumice and long grain rice and is finished with a platinum filter. Rice bran reduces hangovers.

Mig 21 Has Ruined Me

I don't feel sleepy after drinking Shpilka. I drink it straight. It's dangerously soft—it's as soft as I am. (Laughs) Some say it's smooth as water.

Singhi will join me in April next year, performing in front of an audience of over 10,000. I've had a relationship with the distillery for over five years now and just finished my fifteenth trip to Bishkek. One of the things we've been doing with the brand is because Cindy is a fan of women, we refer to Shpilka as "she." We think she looks amazing and amazing. So in April a concert in Bishkek and two days later another concert in Moscow will start the "Singy and Her" tour. "Dangerously Soft" will feature a song and video centered around Shpilka.

Samogan is a 90-proof Russian moonshine. Mick Fuel is a sniper. It should be in the same spot as the 21 to 35 demographic Jagermeister. It's made from chamogon with a blend of aromatic herbs and tastes like a Cadbury chocolate orange with a touch of vanilla and third notes of elderflower and honey. It's very mild, but it's 90 proof.

They were one of the first bars to launch the product. At our first meeting with owner Derek Camlin, we tasted Shpilka, Samogan and Mick Fuel. After trying Shpilka, he said: "It's the best vodka I've ever had - I love the bottle." They were one of the cornerstones of our support. Now they take Shibilka to Salt and Sanctuary and Wildflower, mostly because they heard about it from Sub Zero.

A friend of mine who is a diamond dealer in New York told me, yes, butterflies in your stomach. Actually, it technically means knitting needle in Russian, but also needle.

"I'm Hurr" is doing well on the radio, so we're planning to shoot the video somewhere like Three Sixty here in St. Louis.

Zinc is definitely one of the main factors. Phenix was launched in Springfield, Mo. We have partners and even in St. Louis.
